RenewData Transitions Leadership; Positioned for Continued Growth in Dynamic Market

Expanding on Electronic Discovery Expertise to Support Proactive Approach to Litigation Readiness

AUSTIN, TX - June 5, 2008 - The board of directors for RenewData has appointed Steven Horan, currently RenewData’s Chief Financial Officer, as the acting Chief Executive Officer for the company. Mr. Horan replaces Ellery Buchanan, who will continue to serve as an executive advisor to RenewData. The move reflects a continuation of the strategy to provide proactive services to a rapidly changing marketplace.

Expanding on its core competencies in e-discovery including backup tape extraction, RenewData today outlined its strategy moving forward to provide its customers with the resources necessary to establish a more proactive approach to litigation readiness. RenewData, the leading provider of e-discovery, electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM™), and evidence storage services, has already been making steps towards this focus with its ESIRM product line including its Data Migration Services and Backup Tape Liability Management Services.

RenewData believes its approach to provide customers with tools for litigation readiness reflects the growing industry need for services to help corporations gain control of their ESI. According to a recent April 2008 Gartner report, Key Issues for an Electronic Discovery Project, 2008, "litigation readiness will be the third major trend of 2008, which encompasses everything from legacy tape destruction under legal and controlled conditions, conducting thorough electronic information inventories to making litigation hold processes repeatable and consistent throughout the enterprise." To that point, the firm also noted in the same report, that "the biggest problem that end-user organizations face today is the sheer volume of data that they have stored."

"I am excited to lead such an accomplished team and to continue our success. Our industry is evolving before our eyes. These developments are creating legal, content management, security, and archiving convergence. As a result, the winners in our industry will be those companies that deliver quality solutions that properly address this evolution." said Steven Horan, newly-appointed acting CEO for RenewData. "We would like to thank Ellery for his contributions and for providing a strong technology platform to build on as we look ahead. The entire team is committed to drive this company forward and continue to proactively meet the challenges of our customers."

"These are exciting times for RenewData and our industry," said Tom Walker, Chairman of the Board of RenewData. "As the emphasis in the marketplace shifts from being driven primarily by reactive discovery activities to proactive litigation preparedness, RenewData, because of its investment in appropriate technology and expertise is poised to accelerate with this change and we are confident that Steven will lead the company to successfully capitalize on this opportunity and this strategy."

"It is clear that the 2006 revisions to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure have made it imperative for organizations to be prepared for litigation," said Ellery Buchanan, executive advisor to RenewData. "As we have seen with recent court rulings, lack of preparation can have huge financial implications. Over the past few years, we have assembled an impressive portfolio of intellectual property and market-leading solutions for litigation readiness that is showing tremendous value based on the new market demands. I am confident that the team has the blueprint for further success."

Previously, Mr. Horan spent eight years as EVP and CFO of Arsenal Digital Solutions which was recently purchased by IBM. With a track record of over 20 years of successful strategic execution on a global basis, Mr. Horan has developed significant creditability in the capital markets by balancing sustained profitable growth, leadership development, and the highest standards of pro-active and transparent corporate governance.

RenewData Announces Innovative Technology Developed To Streamline Processing of Backup Tapes

Patent-pending "Single-Pass" processing significantly improves efficiency of processing large volumes of backup tapes for discovery and risk management of ESI

AUSTIN, TX - April 30, 2008 - RenewData, a leading provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM™) services, today announced it has developed a "single-pass" technology for processing backup tapes to better support its clients for discovery and risk management of ESI. The patent-pending "single-pass" backup tape processing technology allows files that have been segmented across more than one backup tape to be read as a whole without having to process each tape in their original sequence or read tapes more than once. It also allows processing of orphan tapes that may have originally been part of a sequence of tapes that no longer exist.

In recent years, the need for corporations to gain more visibility into their tape libraries has increased, as has the volume of tapes that ultimately need to be processed in the wake of discovery orders. This growing need is apparent, considering RenewData has witnessed a 300% increase in the number of backup tapes processed at their facility since 2004. "With the heightened need to identify information on backup tapes through the discovery process quickly, we see the need to process increasingly larger volumes of backup tapes to continue," said Vivian Tero, Research Manager, Compliance Infrastructure, IDC. "Renew Data's 'single-pass' processing technology is intended to address a need among corporations to turn around massive volumes of tape data quickly and efficiently, thus enhancing their ability to meet the eDiscovery deadlines."

While backup tapes were originally intended for near term recovery from full system failures, today they are often retained for long periods of time and have become de facto archives, albeit archives with duplicative and often outdated or obsolete data. Generally, there is little information beyond a date and server name to identify the content. This problem is compounded when the tapes have been inherited from other companies as a result of a merger or acquisition. If a discovery order compels production of evidence from these tapes, retrieving data from them can be a complicated and time-consuming ordeal, particularly if there are tapes missing from a backup sequence. With the addition of this innovative approach from RenewData, the time needed to process this information decreases, thereby allowing clients to gain access to crucial ESI more quickly and efficiently.

"The new 'single-pass' tape processing technology is a testament to our team of engineers, and it demonstrates that RenewData is leading the market in ESI discovery and management services," said Ellery Buchanan, CEO of RenewData. "At RenewData, we are constantly working to provide our clients with the highest level of service in the market to help them address current litigation and to be prepared for future proceedings."

Development of this new technology came about as RenewData began receiving increasingly larger quantities of backup tapes from clients in recent years, and the company's engineers recognized the need for a more efficient way to process them. With "single-pass" processing, RenewData removes the need to catalog all tapes in a given set before they are able to be processed, and this innovation also allows RenewData to process partial data from orphan tapes or incomplete sets – removing the burden on clients to locate all backup tapes in a set before starting the e-discovery process. Now, RenewData can process any tape in any order and delve into the content immediately. This allows for a reduction in labor costs, dramatically decreases the overall processing time, and alleviates much of the burden on clients when trying to locate, identify, and sort through expansive tape inventories. In addition, this quicker turnaround can help corporations more readily comply with the amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which require parties to provide a description of ESI to the other party involved and that both parties "meet-and-confer" to discuss issues related to the discovery of ESI.

Mimosa Systems and RenewData Partner to Bring Best-in-Class Email Archiving and eDiscovery Solutions to Customers

Partnership Combines Mimosa's Powerful Live Content Archiving and eDiscovery Products With RenewData's Strong Portfolio of eDiscovery and ESI Risk Management Services

SANTA CLARA, CA and AUSTIN, TX - February 4, 2008 - Mimosa Systems™, a leading provider of live content archiving solutions, and RenewData, a leading provider of eDiscovery and electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM™) services have formed a partnership to address growing organizational demand for a proactive and comprehensive approach to litigation readiness regarding Electronically Stored Information (ESI). The partnership of Mimosa and RenewData combines Mimosa's powerful next-generation archiving and eDiscovery technology with RenewData's strong portfolio of eDiscovery and ESIRM services. Together, the companies will focus on delivering practical, cost effective offerings for the proactive collection, processing, review and management of ESI.

According to Brian Babineau, an analyst with the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) research and consulting firm, "one of the top reasons companies archive their e-mail is because they have to - due to compliance and legal mandates. Our firm estimates that of the electronic-discovery requests over the past 12 months, 80 percent of them involved e-mail." Mimosa Systems and RenewData are bringing solutions that consolidate historical and real time ESI archival to reduce the cost and risk caused by reactive discovery requests targeting ESI.

Organizations are beginning to implement sound archival strategies to address these issues. But the seemingly endless data on backup tapes, employee workstations and removable media pose a huge headache for companies that are likely to face litigation or audits, or that are struggling to meet compliance regulations. Meeting the challenges of eDiscovery in a reactive fashion compresses timelines and therefore dramatically increases costs and risk of errors. Companies instead are recognizing the need to consolidate all ESI in repositories that can be managed by retention policies, and searched and accessed for discovery purposes as needed.

Through their partnership, Mimosa and RenewData are providing industry leading products and services that enable companies to proactively prepare for the likelihood of eDiscovery. RenewData delivers ESIRM, a comprehensive solution to identify and collect historical ESI on a variety of media types and to convert that data to formats that are easily ingested into the Mimosa NearPoint Archive for easier, lower cost discovery processes. Mimosa NearPointTM provides award-winning, archiving of on-line Exchange-based data. This cost-effective and robust approach to performing eDiscovery searches, implementing retention policies, improving Exchange server manageability, and providing data protection for business continuity allows organizations to focus on revenue generating business activities.

"Our partnership with RenewData will enable us to provide customers with migration services that help them effectively prepare for eDiscovery by allowing them to migrate large amounts of data from backup tapes and legacy data formats to the NearPoint Archive making that data faster and more cost effective to discover," said T.M. Ravi, CEO of Mimosa Systems. " We look forward to working with RenewData, which has a deserved reputation as a leading provider of eDiscovery and ESIRM services to many of the nation's largest law firms and corporations."

"Mimosa's advanced content archiving capabilities will be a tremendous complement to our service offerings," said Ellery Buchanan, CEO, RenewData. "By pairing our ESIRM and eDiscovery solutions with NearPoint, we will be able to help clients to accurately and rapidly archive high volumes of historical data, while reducing their storage costs and improving overall data management."

AXS-One and RenewData Introduce Integrated, Enterprise Solution for Proactive Litigation Readiness

Consolidated Software and Services Enable Corporations to Minimize the Costs and Risks Associated with E-Discovery

RUTHERFORD, NJ and AUSTIN, TX - February 4, 2008 - AXS-One [OTCBB: AXSO], a leading provider of scalable, high-performance records compliance management (RCM) solutions, and RenewData, a leading provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM™) services, today announced an agreement that will deliver a complete offering for enterprise-class proactive litigation readiness. An industry first, the solution leverages RenewData's market leading non-native data extraction, file filtering and data processing technology and processes and AXS-One's award-winning archiving and records management software platform.

This consolidated offering enables IT and litigation teams to proactively plan for and manage the processing of all electronically stored information (ESI) required for litigation – identify, analyze, collect, archive, preserve, cull, review, produce and destroy. Uniquely, the entire process provides a legally defensible chain-of-custody process that will enable users to demonstrate the disposition of all pertinent records in their custody.

The solution includes RenewData's forensic collection, data extraction and processing of historical data and backup tapes with AXS-One's archival and indexing of all ESI. These archive records can include electronic record types including e-mail, PST files, records stored in file systems, reports, desktop documents and images. Leveraging AXS-One's single, integrated archiving repository, all records pertaining to a specific case or cases can be preserved and managed, in line with litigation hold orders. Organizations now will have an unprecedented level of capability in records management, allowing them to archive all records, including historical data, within a designated central repository. Additionally, the solution provides corporations with the ability to use AXS-One's tools to search the archive for potentially responsive information and to utilize RenewData's hosted tools for comprehensive litigation review and production.

The solution directly addresses the requirements introduced at the end of 2006 by the amended Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), which has stimulated organizations to get their electronic records in order or suffer the consequences in the judicial system. To meet FRCP regulations, which require corporations to quickly produce large or specific volumes of data, organizations must have forensically sound chain-of-custody procedures and archiving abilities to ensure data is handled appropriately in the event of litigation.

"The AXS-One Compliance Platform coupled with RenewData's ESIRM services creates an end-to-end solution that truly addresses current legal realities and can support a company in the event of litigation. The solution not only creates a single repository for all data, but also provides for the secure retention and disposition of it. Until now, there was a disconnect between the management of historical data and that of current data, which presented a challenge and a potential liability for corporations in terms of records management and archiving," said Bill Lyons, CEO, AXS-One. "Other products only address a portion of the electronic records lifecycle, but this is a complete solution that provides identification, de-duplication, reduction, consolidation and archiving processes resulting in the ability to proactively manage, retain, preserve, hold, export, and dispose of current and historical data."

"RenewData's ESIRM Services have given corporations the ability to identify, de-duplicate, and reduce large amounts of data stored on backup tapes. With this joint solution, corporations can actively archive current data together with large stores of backup tapes or other disparate legacy formats. Given the costs and risks associated with e-discovery, corporations must gain control of all their records including historical information. Corporations need to inventory the electronic records they have, develop retention policies and put those records in a central archive which can be managed and accessed in the future to ensure they are litigation-ready," said Ellery Buchanan, CEO, RenewData.

"Developments in the legal and regulatory landscape are compelling organizations to formalize and execute records and information management policies," said Vivian Tero, Program Manager, Compliance Infrastructure, IDC. "Archival solutions that can extend support beyond email to multiple file and content types and that include integrated functionality for legal, compliance, and operational worfklows are designed to address this need."

RenewData Builds Upon Quality Reputation with Addition of Veteran Business Process Improvement Expert

Renowned "Six Sigma" Business Process Improvement (BPI) Program is Cornerstone of Quality and Client Satisfaction Initiative

AUSTIN, TX - December 19, 2007 - As the e-discovery market continues to grow at a rapid rate, quality issues are often cited as problems that must be addressed across the industry. Given the sensitive and urgent nature of the e-discovery process, it is particularly critical that work product is accurate, complete and delivered on time, as any deviation from such can cause organizations to be sanctioned or fined. RenewData has earned a reputation as a high quality vendor providing reliable results to its clients. To build upon and extend this reputation, RenewData is today announcing the addition of business process improvement expert, Michael Enyart, to its management team as Senior Director of Business Process Quality.

Enyart, as a consultant to RenewData, has been instrumental in the implementation of the "Six Sigma" Business Process Improvement (BPI) Program in May of this year and, as an employee, will lead RenewData's effort to expand and embed the BPI program throughout the entire organization. The BPI program is a well known, quality initiative designed to continually analyze and update the core business processes that directly impact quality and client satisfaction. RenewData conducted its first wave of BPI training for key staff members in June and has successfully driven several significant projects through the new cycle. As a result of having undergone the stringent standards of the BPI Program, these initial projects have resulted in transformational changes, cross-functional communication, and active engagement throughout the organization.

Enyart brings significant experience in accelerating change, jump-starting projects, and deploying sustainable improvements at large organizations. Prior to joining RenewData, Enyart spent nine years as an independent consultant in process improvement and change management to numerous corporate clients such as Dell Corporation, as well as ten years in quality assurance and production management positions in the semiconductor industry. He has delivered Six Sigma training to more than 1400 project leaders around the world and directed numerous process improvement projects in the U.S., South America, Central America, Western and Eastern Europe. His experience also includes implementing and managing ISO 9001 and Malcolm Baldrige programs.

"Mike initially worked with us as a consultant shaping and implementing our program, and because it was such a success, we decided to hire him as a full-time employee engaged across the organization," said Ellery Buchanan, CEO of RenewData. "Bringing Mike onboard is further testament of our commitment to continual quality improvement and focus on all aspects of our business processes. He has a proven track record of successfully driving and implementing many cross-functional process improvements and achieving significant cost savings. We're focused on client satisfaction, and we address the core issues to provide our clients with the highest quality of work product possible throughout the litigation process."

The goal of RenewData's BPI Program is to create efficient business processes throughout the company to provide a benchmark of data quality that will continue to exceed the standard in the e-discovery industry. The BPI approach will allow RenewData to make significant changes in the ways it conducts business, through ongoing process improvements that are driven by client needs and expectations. Additionally, to further drive this initiative, RenewData recently implemented Lombardi's Teamworks® BPM software suite to support its work order tracking system business processes throughout the organization.

RenewData Introduces Industry's First Service to Help Reduce Inherent Liability of Data Stored on Backup Tapes

Backup Tape Liability Management Services Enable Corporations to Minimize the Costs and Risks of Storing Backup Tapes

AUSTIN, Texas – October 2, 2007 RenewData, a leading provider of electronic evidence and data migration services for corporations and law firms, today announced the availability of their Backup Tape Liability Management Service, which enables corporations to identify, de-duplicate, and possibly reduce data on large numbers of stored backup tapes.

RenewData’s Backup Tape Liability Management Service uses a secure process to quickly evaluate the content of backup tapes and reduce the ongoing storage costs associated with unnecessarily retaining tapes not required for a corporation’s legal, regulatory, or retention management purposes. Backup tapes containing data applicable to the corporations’ retention criteria can be returned to the client or consolidated on high-capacity media, while tapes not meeting the criteria can be destroyed using a defensible process. This identification, de-duplication, reduction, and consolidation process helps corporations address the potential liability residing in large inventories of backup tapes and reduces the ongoing storage costs associated with retaining tapes deemed unnecessary. In addition, the information gained from the resulting reports accompanying this new service may be used to address Rules which require parties to provide a description of electronically stored information to the other party involved and that both parties “meet-and-confer” to discuss issues related to the discovery of electronically stored information.

“The growth in backup tape inventories continues to impact corporations’ storage and maintenance costs. Oftentimes, companies are unaware of the content contained within their backup tapes, resulting in an unknown liability risk," said Vivian Tero, Senior Research Analyst, Compliance Infrastructure, IDC. "RenewData's Backup Tape Liability Management Service addresses a need for organizations to gain more visibility regarding their tape content, as well as systematically reduce their inventory of historical backup tapes. With the information garnered from this solution, customers can facilitate more targeted identification and collection strategies, support their arguments for multi-phased discovery, and reduce their storage and maintenance costs.”

RenewData’s legal expertise, secure facility, and forensically sound chain-of-custody procedures ensure all data is handled appropriately to avoid questioning later if litigation occurs. RenewData e-discovery experts can also testify in Court regarding the processes and technology used during the Backup Tape Liability Management Service, as well as assist with 26(f) "meet and confer" discussions. Additionally, because many backup tapes in storage often contain antiquated data found in obsolete formats, corporations attempting in-house restoration and extraction of data from old media quickly realize the technical difficulties associated with doing so. As tape extraction experts, RenewData technicians ensure proper handling and restoration of outdated media formats and backup software.

“Many of our corporate clients are seeking ways to mitigate the liability inherent with storing thousands or even tens of thousands of backup tapes, and they need to ensure any historical data that can be deleted is safely destroyed, while preserved data remains accessible to discovery requests,” said Ellery Buchanan, CEO of RenewData. “Our Backup Tape Liability Management Service allows corporations to dramatically reduce the costs of retaining data, while potentially diminishing the scope and exposure of litigation holds. In addition, having this process carried out by RenewData experts greatly minimizes later allegations of spoliation or non-compliance.”

By approaching the issue proactively, corporations will know where their data resides, what type of data they have, and what the data represents – allowing for the possible reduction of large amounts of data and increased ability to identify data not reasonably accessible. RenewData’s Backup Tape Liability Management Service encompasses several steps corporations can take toward better management of their backup tape inventories, including a Physical Media Audit Report, Tape Sample Analysis, File Level and Data Content Reduction, and Data Consolidation.
